Have you heard of Judd Henkes? It would be hard not to considering he is a dual-threat in both halfpipe and slopestyle. Henkes started snowboarding at age four and was making noise on the contest scene by age 14. The breakout moment came at the 2016 Burton U.S. Open, where the then-14-year-old not only qualified for the halfpipe final, but then finished fifth against many of the sport’s top riders and showed that he possessed strong amplitude.
Part of a young core of up-and-coming American slope riders, Henkes has bright future ahead. The Southern California native won a silver medal in slopestyle at the 2017 Junior World Championships and placed eighth at the first World Cup competition of the 2017/18 season.
