You’d think having grown up the son of 80’s vert pro Chris Miller, in San Diego, aka the land of the halfpipe, that Zach Miller would have been given a free pass to the big time. Well, you’d think wrong.

While it’s true that all of that didn’t hurt Zach’s rise in the world of professional vert skating, the facts remain that vert skating is hard, the ramps are big, and the dudes one has to skate against as a pro vert guy are pretty intense. So unless you’re bringing serious heat to the pipe, no one is going to care how great your dad is or how many ramps you have at your disposal.

First getting on a board when he was all of about three or four years old, Zach got off to an early start. After fulfilling all of the am requirements, like winning the LG Am vert event in San Diego in ’07 and placing second at the Free Flow Tour finals in ‘08, Zach proved the jump to professional was the right one when he succeeded in his first ever attempt to qualify for the Dew Tour in 2009.

Zach has made his presence felt with a style rivaled by few on the deck (just like his pops), consisting of a smooth like butta technique and a “just cruising” casualness that makes even his 540s look easy. And if you think you’re dealing with a spoiled punk who feels entitled to some sort of status, well, you’d be wrong for a second time. Sorry. Of all of his future goals, which include working his way up the ranks on the Tour and traveling as much as possible, having fun on the board remains priority number one.
