Arielle Gold’s first trip to the Olympics ended in disappointment when she dislocated her shoulder during practice. As a result, she scratched from the event before she even had a chance to compete.
Still, the road back to the Olympics goes through Dew Tour. In her past three Dew Tour appearances, Gold finished fourth or better each time. The last time she was here (in 2015), she showcased her continued progression by unveiling a Michalchuk for the first time.
Arielle Gold is the younger sister of Taylor Gold, a fellow member of the U.S. snowboarding team and also a member of the 2014 Olympic team. The two grew up together in Steamboat Springs, and it was Taylor who helped inspire her to first try snowboarding. In 2012, Arielle won silver medals in both halfpipe and slopestyle at the Youth Olympics.
