Future Ski and Snowboard Olympians to Qualify at Dew Tour Breckenridge 2017
This December, the best snowboarders and skiers in the world will once more line up atop the mountain in Breckenridge, Colorado, for a chance to represent their countries in one of the oldest athletic traditions in the world.
Hot on the heels of another successful Dew Tour skateboarding contest, Mountain Dew and TEN: The Enthusiast Network announced today that the Dew Tour: Breckenridge event (December 14-17, 2017) will serve as a U.S. Ski and Snowboard Olympic qualifying event for men’s and women’s halfpipe and slopestyle snowboarding and skiing competitions. So, in addition to competing for the prize purse and the coveted Dew Tour title, dozens of Olympic Snowboarding hopefuls will be playing for a chance to go to PyeongChang, South Korea, for the 2018 Olympic Games.
This isn’t the first time Dew Tour has accepted the responsibility. The 2014 Dew Tour in Breckenridge was also a qualifying event for the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. “After a successful run in 2014, it was a natural choice to partner with Dew Tour once again to be a part of our Olympic selection events,” said Tiger Shaw, President and CEO of U.S. Ski & Snowboard. “Both the Dew Tour and the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix are committed to putting on a world class event for all athletes and presenting our sports ahead of the 2018 Games.”
The Dew Tour contest franchise was selected for both its reputation, and its legacy. For 12 years, it has provided the professional skateboarding, snowboarding, and skiing worlds with innovative platforms to represent their brands, showcase their abilities, and take home the Dew Tour Champion titles.
“We couldn’t be happier to showcase the progression of snowboarding and freeskiing as an Olympic selection event,” said Adam Cozens, VP and General Manager of Dew Tour. “The combination of an official qualifier, the Team Challenge and our commitment to creating unique courses with our partner Breckenridge will ensure that the competitors will throw down their absolute best at Dew Tour in December.”
Dew Tour Breckenridge will feature all the events riders and fans have come to expect and enjoy, including the Team Challenge, the Dew Tour Experience village, and of course, the accolades: The Powder Awards, and the Transworld Snowboarding Rider’s Poll Awards. So whether you’re a snowboarding fan, an Olympic hopeful, or both, start booking your trip to Colorado today!
