Carlsbad, Calif. (March 20, 2020) — The Adventure Sports Network (ASN) and MTN DEW announced today that its annual summer Dew Tour skateboard competition and festival, which is scheduled to serve as a skateboard Olympic qualifying event, is postponed in light of the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Dew Tour served as an Olympic qualifying event for men’s and women’s skateboard street and park last June. It was set to serve as the last Olympic qualifying event in the U.S. before the Tokyo Games May 7-10 in Long Beach, Calif.

Dew Tour’s dedication to the overall safety of the event, the current government restrictions on large gatherings, as well as international travel bans, preclude the event from taking place in May.

“We remain committed to the progression of skateboarding as well as serving as a qualifier for skateboarding’s Olympic debut,” explained Courtney Gresik, Dew Tour vice president and general manager. “With the evolving situation of the coronavirus, the safety of our athletes, fans, partners, vendors and staff remains paramount.”

A new date for the event will be set and released soon.
