The second of five Unlock The Spot events went down with Theotis Beasley in El Segundo, California putting MTN DEW’s new campaign #skateboardingisunstoppable into action. The grassroots events bring together the skate community and give them an opportunity to session the otherwise off-limits double-set staircase at El Segundo Recreation Park.

Art getting paid!

Skateboarders slowly started to arrive at the early call time at 11:00 am, and by that time, DJ Kevin Romar had his equipment set up, ready to hype up the open skate jam session. Local skaters quickly warmed up with ollies, 180s, kickflips, and more down the set and strategically held back their better tricks, ready for the cash-for-tricks to get underway. Theotis got in the mix, feeding off the hype and stomped a mean backside kickflip.

The Compton Kidz came out to support Theo and the skateboarding community with their presents on-site and started things off with an opening dance routine.

MTN DEW was on site again with a photo booth for fans to participate and get a flick snapped for free with what skateboarding means to them. Influencers Lamont Holt and Anthony Ferraro were hung out among the crowd. Although Anthony felt the four flat-four was a little savage for his skateboarding skills, he did push himself to ollie up a three stair that fired everyone up.

With skateboarders all warmed up and more arriving, Theotis made the announcement for the cash for tricks and stood sideline with $2,500 in $10s and $20s to give out. Honorable mentions that showed up include Art Cordova, Kento Urano, Jeff DeChesare, and Dew Tour Am Search alum Collin Slew. By far, knocking the most tricks out of the park and taking home the most cash was Art, rolling away with switch frontside kickflip, fakie kickflip, switch hardflip, switch 360, and nollie 360 flip, just to name a few. Kento stole the show with an after-buzzer 360 inward heelflip. After all the cash was given out, Theo closed the show with a classic product toss giving out Baker Skateboard decks, Thunder Trucks, Spitfire Wheels, and apparel soft goodies.
