As soon as the concrete has cured, skaters started showing up to warm up and feel out the course for the long weekend of Dew Tour skating. Men, women, ams, legends, and pros—including current Skater Of The Year Jamie Foy—got some licks in on the street and park courses.

Each year the course is new—sure, there’s always a hip, a handrail, and a deep end, but when you’re skating at the level these guys are on, it’s always just a little different. And “just a little different” is enough to mean the difference between first place, and every other place.

Some show up early to figure out their lines, some like to get a feel for the concrete, and the rest? Well, they’re skaters, so when there’s a virgin skatepark they just want to get some runs.

Womens’ skateboarding is in a long-awaited Renaissance, and judging from the practice sessions today the contest is going to be a must-watch. Bryce Wettstein, Candy Jacobs, Hanna Zanzi, Jordyn Barratt, Julia Brueckler, Mariah Duran, and Poppy Olson spent the day getting acquainted with the street and park courses, and

Henry Gartland, Marcos Montoya, Toby Ryan, and Maurio McCoy were among the mens’ amateur skaters warming up on the course, and pros Tyson Bowerbank and Jamie Foy got a few tricks in as well.

There’s so much more incredible skating to come, so get here if you can—and if not, be sure to catch the live webcast at:
