Mr. Wells is nothing short of a style master. The man in black has done the competition scene his way since the beginning, and in recent years has seen his emphasis on style and technical tricks over “spin to win” pay big dividends. Last season Wells won his first X Games gold in slopestyle punctuated by a massive switch double cork 1440, but you’re just as likely to see the Wanaka, New Zealand native tweak out a massive zero spin. Wells carries a skate influence into his jib sections and often throws unique combos into his runs. He’s the oldest of three Wells brothers on the competitive circuit, and it seems the ski world will be hearing from the Wells for years to come.
