Coming up on a snowboard in Canada these days is tough. However, if you earn recognition as “the kid with no fear” on your local hill before the age of 10, luck is on your side. That was how Tyler Nicholson’s story began, at least, but how it will end is entirely up to him. Stomping his first major contest win in 2011 at the Ontario Provincial Championship, Nicholson then took his skills abroad. In 2013, Nicholson not only found his way to the FIS World Junior Championship but riding out with world recondition and the title. The following year, Nicholson brought his well-rounded Slopestyle skills to the professional ranks to immediately begin earning podium finishes at global events. In 2014, Nicholson came into Dew Tour as the last person to qualify, but with his first run of the final event he was able to earn third on the day. Still riding strong, Nicholson kicked off things off in 2016 with a second place finish at the LAAX Open.
