One of the rising stars on the U.S. halfpipe team, Maddie Mastro has become a podium threat at every contest she enters. After a third-place finish at last season’s U.S. Open, she enters the 2017/18 season with a solid chance at making the Olympic team.
It was actually the 2010 Olympics which played a role in sparking Mastro’s snowboarding career. Specifically, it was watching Torah Bright’s runs on TV that inspired her to get serious about pursuing a career in the sport. Making the team for PyeongChang 2018 (and potentially competing against Bright) would bring everything full circle.
