Style for miles — that’s what Danny Davis brings to the halfpipe. The Michigan native always makes it a priority to get creative and mix up his runs throughout the season, and it’s turned those runs into must-see viewing for fans and competitors alike.
In an era that has been defined by double corking and spinning to win, Davis has been throwing it back with smaller tricks that are decidedly both technical and stylish: switch methods, backside 360s, tweaked-out McTwists. It’s a formula that has produced success for Davis, as it helped him win back-to-back X Games gold medals in 2014 and 2015.
Despite being one of the top U.S. riders in 2010, Davis missed the Olympics that season because of injuries suffered in an ATV accident. What followed was a lengthy recovery process and comeback. By the time the 2014 Olympic season rolled around, Davis had finally reclaimed a spot among the sport’s top tier. He qualified for his first Olympic team at age 25 and ended up placing 10th in Sochi that year.
A member of the Mountain Dew team, Davis holds the distinction of winning the first-ever Dew Tour Superpipe contest, which was held at Breckenridge back in 2008. That was the first of three Dew Tour wins for Davis, though his last one came in 2010.
Davis’s creative style and desire to mix things up in the snowboarding world are also reflected in the Peace Park event that he has hosted for several years now.
