Thanks to Chris Corning, the future of U.S. slopestyle snowboarding looks promising. He’s been tearing up the FIS circuit for the last two seasons and, at just 18 years old, appears to have a bright career ahead of him.
A three-time gold medalist at the junior world championships, Corning is also a factor at elite-level contests. He won a silver medal in big air and a bronze medal in slopestyle at the 2017 World Championships, and he was the overall slopestyle champion of the FIS World Cup circuit in 2016. His most impressive result, though, was his fifth-place finish at the 2017 U.S. Open.
With constant progression, Corning has become to one to watch during this Olympic period. At the first event of the 2017/18 season, he narrowly missed the podium at Winter Games New Zealand, finishing in fourth place.
