In recent seasons, Cassie Sharpe has led a Canadian halfpipe resurgence, announcing her candidacy for world contender with a 2015 FIS World Championships silver in the halfpipe. Across the hill, her brother Darcy was busy making waves of her own, taking a silver in the World Championships big air. With the stage set, Sharpe has continued to put on a show, winning the Tignes stop on the World Cup and earning X Games gold in the X Games Oslo halfpipe in 2016. Sharpe secured the win while skiing with a stress fracture in her back, using her signature cork 900 to seal the deal. The gold was the first for a Canadian woman in the pipe since 2012. Sharpe’s ski career started on Vancouver Island, where she and her siblings used to cut their teeth on the coastal slopes of Mount Washington.
