The term “grom” may not be the best way to describe the following skateboarders. Although they are young, they are far from beginners. With the World Skate Rankings’ help, we found Nine skateboarders who are 15-years of age or younger that are within the top 15 rankings. This list is just a small glimpse into the large pool of talent that is the skateboarding world. Scroll through the list below to see who a few of today’s future Olympians are.
Women’s park
Misugu Okamoto from Japan currently sits in first place and is leading in the Women’s Park World Skate rankings. In 2019, Misugu dropped into to the Dew Tour for the first time and took fans and judges by surprise and walked away in first place.
If you know any fans of the TV show Dancing with the Stars: Juniors, then they probably knew about Sky Brown before you did. This grom doesn’t just excel on a skateboard but also rips at surfing. At 12 years old, Sky currently sits in third place in World Skate Rankings and is most likely to represent Great Britain at the 2021 Olympics.
Since the start of the Olympic skateboard qualifying events, the world has seen a wave of impressive talent coming from Japan. Cocona Hiraki is one of them, and at 11 years old, currently sits in ninth overall in World Skate rankings. Cocona also accompanied her fellow teammate Misugu on the 2019 Dew Tour podium finishing in third place.
Men’s Park
Just making the cut at 15 years old is USA’s park ripper Tate Carew. Dew Tour first caught a glimpse of Tate back in 2018 flying around the amateur park competition where he took second place. Tate sits in an 11th overall World Skate ranking and is currently the youngest skateboarder within the top 15.
Honorable mention:
We had to make a little exception here; there’s no way this list could go on without mentioning Gavin Bottger. The 13-year-old sits back in 21st place but his raw power grows stronger with his age.
Women’s Street
By now, we’ve all seen the incredible talent that packed into street skateboarder Rayssa Leal. This 12-year-old Brazilian skateboarder is a name that will stick around for a long time and will continue to grow.

Like the storm of Japanese skateboarders seen in the recent Olympic qualifiers, Brazil has a large field of ripping riders. 14-year-old Virgina Fortes Aguas sits in 10th place in World Skate rankings.
Japanese street skater Yumeka Oda joins the list at 13 years old and in an 11th overall World Skate ranking. Recently, Yumeka scored a second-place finish at the coveted Tampa Pro back in February/March of 2020.
Just making the cut in 15th World Ranking and at 15 years old is Funa Nakayama of Japan.
Men’s Street
We’re making an age exception for Yukito Aoki, who is 16 years old and the youngest among the top 15 skateboarders, with a World Skate ranking of 13th place. The men’s World Skateboarding street rankings is staked with talented skaters making for a competitive field.
