Shaun White To Take Break from Skateboarding in 2013

As the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi approach, 2006 and 2010 snowboard superpipe gold medalist Shaun White has decided to take a hiatus from skateboarding this summer as he sets his focus squarely on gearing up for another gold medal run. In addition to superpipe, White will also compete in snowboard slopestyle in Sochi, an event making its Olympic debut.

Last August, White had knee surgery and wasn’t able to compete in any skate competitions this past summer. In his last major skate contest, he finished 2nd at the Dew Tour Championships in October 2011.
