Jen Hudak Reigns Over Freeski Pipe Finals

By Mike Rogge

Good morning from the second stop of the Winter Dew Tour. The Women’s Freeski Superpipe Exhibition went down under blue skies and sunshine this morning. The field of five included pipe specialist Sarah Burke and Jen Hudak, who landed respectively first and second places at Breckenridge stop. Among the healthy crowd, skiers Tanner Hall, Justin Dorey, and Simon Dumont were pipe-side, clapping and cheering on the skiers. Jen Hudak took the exhibition with an 87.5, leading second-placer Grete Eliassen by six points. Sarah Burke secured third.

The ladies threw down some impressive trickery with Jen Hudak swiping the first-place finish. Jen threw down a 7 and an ally oop mute. Her lofty 540s were a thing of beauty, as were Sarah Burke’s large and in charge 9s. Rosalind Groenewoud offered up a nice 540.

After the exhibition Jen was feeling good. “I love the halfpipe and I want to take it home with me,” she said. In a perfect comic book world we’d shrink it down, zip it in a board bag, and toss it her way.
