Dew Tour Hosts Hart & Huntington Speed and Style FMX Event

The Dew Tour, the world’s premier season-long action sports tour, will host the Hart & Huntington Speed and Style contest, a freestyle motocross event, September 9 during the Toyota Challenge. The evening will kick off with a pit party at the course in downtown Salt Lake City, with tickets on sale now. FMX riders Carey Hart, Mike Mason, Ronnie Faisst and more will put on a spectacle of a show at 7:30pm, with a concert from Utah-based alternative rock band The Used closing the night out on the dirt.

Carey Hart, a freestyle motocross legend, has been competing in FMX professionally for the past 15 years. He works toward promoting FMX internationally through various mediums and competes as part of the Hart & Huntington team, based on his tattoo company. Mike Mason was a top contender in the Dew Tour’s past FMX events, and most recently won a silver medal at the X Games’ Speed & Style contest. Ronnie Faisst is also no stranger to success on the FMX circuit, placing in the top ten in every X Games event he’s competed in since 2000. The competitor field includes Lance Coury, Todd Potter, Beau Bamburg, Javier Villegas, Myles Richmond, Rich Kerns and Libmor Podmol. The knock-out format will send the winner of each of the first three heats straight to the finals. Second-place finishers will go to the second round, where they will have one last chance to advance to the final round, where the overall winner will be named.

“I’m excited to be working with the Dew Tour to bring the Speed & Style event to all the fans in Salt Lake City,” said FMX legend Carey Hart. “I’ve invited today’s best riders to showcase their motocross and FMX skills on the Dew Tour course in a high-energy contest that the fans will really enjoy.”

Motocross fans who want special access to the contest have the opportunity to purchase a $20 Pit Pass in addition to their Friday ticket, while Action Zone tickets automatically gain access to the Dew Tour’s first-ever pit party. The pass includes athlete autograph signings, a souvenir poster and credential, a food and drink voucher, early access to seating and a raffle ticket. A variety of items will be raffled off, from Dew Tour merchandise and event tickets to a Mongoose bike.

The Used will bring their gritty brand of in-your-face rock to the Toyota Challenge with a live show directly following the FMX contest. Frontman Bert McCracken’s intense vocals will match the motocross action, while hard hitting guitar riffs stand up to the rev of engines. Founded in Orem, Utah, The Used emerged as one of the top names in alternative rock with their self-titled debut release in 2002. Their CD/DVD combination package entitled “Maybe Memories” is certified platinum and they are currently working on a fifth studio album to be independently released in February 2012.

Tickets for the Dew Tour Toyota Challenge are available through SmithsTix.com, the EnergySolutions Arena Box Office or by phone at 801-476-8499. Action Zone passes cost $100 and include access to Friday’s FMX Pit Party, Dew Tour swag, a behind the scenes tour of the venues, athlete autograph sessions, an Alli Shop merchandise discount coupon, a Fast Pass for venues and interactive areas and Pepsi product. Reserved tickets are $35 and include guaranteed seating at all Dew Tour finals events. A Grounds Pass will allow you access to the Festival Village and competition viewing as capacity allows, for the price of $15 for adults and $7.50 for children. Thursday’s contests and Festival Village are open to the public for free, with purchase of a Friday, Saturday or Sunday ticket.
