Dew Tour is back for another year in Colorado and is now calling Copper Mountain home for the week. Copper, being no stranger to world-renowned park builds, is quickly proving itself as the perfect host to Dew Tour. Its standard for well-built features is shining through, with every lip, landing, and transition chiseled to perfection.
The Modified Superpipe presented by Toyota is back again this year, providing a vessel for athletes to approach tricks and lines in a more creative way than a traditional superpipe. Today was the first day that the riders were able to test it out, and so far the feedback is all things good. Devin Logan, a seasoned pipe skier noted that, “It flows really well together and it was a great first day of practice. It was so fun to watch all the competitors take different lines and inspire each other to try new things.”
The stoke was high not only from the other pipe athletes but also from the nearby streetstyle course hosting a bit of practice at the same time. Unlike years past, Streetstyle will be held at the same location as the other events, allowing for easy viewing from Copper’s Center Village.
The slopestyle course maintained the same creative energy, with an array of seven different features for riders to navigate through. Despite the cold temperatures, everyone continued to throw down and hype each other up. The rail section included a few features that are rather uncommon in a slopestyle competition, such as a rail to butter pad, a massive wallride, and an option of a quarter pipe hit at the top. The excitement going into qualifiers as well as finals continues to build as the riders continue to get a feel for their approaches.
