Growing up in Uganda, Africa, snowboarding was the farthest thing from Brolin Mawejje’s mind. He never even saw snow until he left the country in search of his mother and arrived in Lincoln, Massachusetts at age 12. Then, he only picked snowboarding up three years later in an effort to fit into a new culture, but it since has become a force that has reshaped his life. After graduating from Westminster College, in Salt Lake City, Utah, last year the 24-year-old has put plans for medical school on hold while he pursues his dream of becoming the first Uganda to compete in the 2018 winter Olympics.
